Umar Ibn Al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him)

Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) was born thirteen years after the year of the elephant, which makes him approximately 13 years younger than the holy prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).

Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) accepted Islam in Makkah after the prophet (peace be upon him) made dua to Allah to guide him to Islam. After Umar (May Allah be pleased with him) accepted Islam he was known for always supporting the prophet (peace be upon him), and always being by his side.

After the demise of the prophet (Peace be upon him) and the first Khalifah Abubaker, Umar became the next leader for the Muslims.

After Umar (May Allah be pleased with him) passed away, Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) states that he heard someone say “Oh Umar! I always knew that you will be buried here, because on numerous occasions I had heard the prophet (peace be upon him) saying “I did this and so did Abu Bakr and Umar. I went there and so did Abu Bakr and Umar. I thought this and so did Abu Bakr and Umar.” I always knew no one can keep you away from here.” When Ibn Abbas looked back, it was none other than Ali (may Allah be pleased with him).

Today we see that Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) is buried next to the prophet (peace be upon him) and Abu Baker (may Allah be pleased with him) in Madinah.

Abdullah ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) reports that the Prophet (peace be upon him) said:

“Allah has put the truth upon Umar’s tongue and (in) his heart.’[1]

Abdullah Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said: “No affair ever happened among people and they spoke about it and Umar spoke about it but that the Qur’an was revealed confirming what Umar said”.

The messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said:

I entered Paradise and saw in it a house or a palace. I said: For whom is it resersred? They (the Angels) said: It is for ‘Umar.

(The Holy Prophet said to ‘Umar b. Khattab): I intended to get into it but I thought of your feelings.” Thereupon Umar wept and said: Oh prophet of Allah, could I feel any jealousy in your case?  [2]

The prophet (peace be upon him) said:

“If there were to be a prophet after me, indeed he would be Umar, son of Khattab”. [3]
