Dua For When Returning Form A Journey by MyIslaam
 

Ibn Umar may Allah be pleased with him relates that when the messenger of Allah would mount his camel when leaving on a journey he would say ‘Allahu Akbar’ three times and then recite the following Dua:

Glorified be the one who has made this (means of transport) subservient to us, and we do not have the power to subjugate it, and we shall most certainly return to our lord. Oh Allah, we ask of you that you give us righteousness, piety and the ability to carry out actions which are pleasing to you in this journey of our’s. Oh Allah, make this journey easy for us and shorten its distance. Oh Allah, you are our companion in this journey and the guardian of our families. Oh Allah, we seek refuge in you from the difficulty of this journey and from seeing things which cause grief and from a bad return to our wealth and family. 

When he would return he would recite this Dua and add:

We are returning, we repent to Allah, we worship Allah, we glorify only Allah. 

حَدَّثَنِى هَارُونُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ حَدَّثَنَا حَجَّاجُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ قَالَ قَالَ ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ أَخْبَرَنِى أَبُو الزُّبَيْرِ أَنَّ عَلِيًّا الأَزْدِىَّ أَخْبَرَهُ أَنَّ ابْنَ عُمَرَ عَلَّمَهُمْ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ -صلى الله عليه وسلم- كَانَ إِذَا اسْتَوَى عَلَى بَعِيرِهِ خَارِجًا إِلَى سَفَرٍ كَبَّرَ ثَلاَثًا ثُمَّ قَالَ:

« سُبْحَانَ الَّذِى سَخَّرَ لَنَا هَذَا وَمَا كُنَّا لَهُ مُقْرِنِينَ وَإِنَّا إِلَى رَبِّنَا لَمُنْقَلِبُونَ اللَّهُمَّ إِنَّا نَسْأَلُكَ فِى سَفَرِنَا هَذَا الْبِرَّ وَالتَّقْوَى وَمِنَ الْعَمَلِ مَا تَرْضَى اللَّهُمَّ هَوِّنْ عَلَيْنَا سَفَرَنَا هَذَا وَاطْوِ عَنَّا بُعْدَهُ اللَّهُمَّ أَنْتَ الصَّاحِبُ فِى السَّفَرِ وَالْخَلِيفَةُ فِى الأَهْلِ اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّى أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ وَعْثَاءِ السَّفَرِ وَكَآبَةِ الْمَنْظَرِ وَسُوءِ الْمُنْقَلَبِ فِى الْمَالِ وَالأَهْلِ »

. وَإِذَا رَجَعَ قَالَهُنَّ. وَزَادَ فِيهِنَّ

« آيِبُونَ تَائِبُونَ عَابِدُونَ لِرَبِّنَا حَامِدُونَ ».
