QUESTION:
Eid is always one of two days. If it becomes eid on the first possible day, but you must go to work, is this a valid excuse to perform the salaah on the second day?
ANSWER:
In the name of Allah, Most Compassionate, Most Merciful,
You should plan in advance and try to book two days off to be on the safe side. When Eid has been announced, you should perform Eid Ṣalāh on the day which corresponds to the first of shawwāl. If you have no other alternative but to perform it on the second day, which corresponds to the second of shawwāl, and other Eid congregations are taking place on that second day, then you are permitted to join them.[1]
