Question:

Is it permissible to operate on animals  such as  (pet) cats (neutering/ovariohysterectomy) so they can not produce offspring?

Answer:

In the name of Allah, Most Compassionate, Most Merciful,

As long as there is some type of benefit or averting some harm through neutering an animal, it will be permitted.(1)
