The Islamic tradition offers timeless guidance to shape a believer’s heart, behaviour, and relationships. The following principles come from the Qur’an and the Sunnah. Each one carries a reference from the Islamic sources.
Think Well of Allah
A believer maintains hope and trust in Allah at all times, especially in moments of difficulty. Having good expectations of Allah is an act of worship and a sign of a heart filled with faith.
The Prophet ﷺ said: “None of you should die except while assuming the best about Allah.” (Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim)
Ask Allah for Pardon and Well-Being
Well-being in body, soul, and life is among the greatest gifts a person can receive. The Prophet ﷺ encouraged the believers to frequently ask Allah for pardon and well-being.
The Prophet ﷺ said: “Ask Allah for pardon and well-being, for no one is given anything better after certainty in faith than well-being.” (Sunan at-Tirmidhī)
Treat Women with Kindness
The Prophet ﷺ honoured women and emphasised their rights and dignity. He reminded the ummah repeatedly to be gentle, fair, and kind toward women.
The Prophet ﷺ said: “Treat women kindly.” (Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhārī & Muslim)
Fear Allah Wherever You Are
Taqwā is a constant state of awareness. The believer carries it in private and in public, in ease and in hardship, wherever they may be.
The Prophet ﷺ said: “Fear Allah wherever you are.” (Sunan at-Tirmidhī)
A Kind Word Is Charity
Charity is not limited to giving money. A sincere and gentle word that uplifts another person is also counted as charity.
The Prophet ﷺ said: “A good word is charity.” (Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhārī & Muslim)
Establish Prayer
Prayer is the foundation of spiritual life. Establishing prayer means performing it regularly, properly, and with presence of heart.
Allah says: “Establish the prayer.” (Qurʾān 2:43)
Be Merciful to Others
Mercy is at the heart of the Prophet’s message. Showing mercy to people invites the mercy of Allah upon oneself.
The Prophet ﷺ said: “Be merciful to those on earth and the One above the heavens will be merciful to you.” (Sunan at-Tirmidhī)
Purify Your Intention
The sincerity of intention gives value to every action. Every good deed begins with a pure and clear intention.
The Prophet ﷺ said: “Actions are only by intentions.” (Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhārī & Muslim)
Keep Trust
Trustworthiness is one of the strongest signs of true faith. A believer returns what they are entrusted with, whether it is property, responsibility, or a promise.
The Prophet ﷺ said: “Render the trust to the one who entrusted you.” (Sunan Abī Dāwūd)
These principles guide the believer toward sincerity, mercy, trust, and devotion. When a person lives by them, their heart becomes purified and their character becomes a source of goodness for others. Through these teachings, the light of the Qur’an and the Sunnah shines in both private and public life.
“O Allah, guide me to the best of character, for none can guide to its best except You, and turn me away from bad character, for none can turn it away except You.”

The Religion (Islam) is to act with sincerity
