Question
My question is what is the stance according to Quran and hadith on using amulets (taawiz) and going to see people who specialise in giving these? Is it acceptable to wear? And sometimes they say you have to do certain things e.g. to ward off nazar getting a pinch of salt some chillies and charcoal pray some verses of the quran and throw away the items etc.., What does Islam say about such practices. Jazakhallah khair.
NOTE: Question published as asked.
Answer
It is preferable for one to refrain from using amulets. If one does use them, it should be ensured the belief that Allah Ta’ala is the One warding off the evil etc. remains unwavering. The same goes for these practices.

What an evil person is he who stores merchandise and if Allah causes the price to fall is grieved and if He causes them to increase is pleased.
