Become Holistic believers!

Become a beliver

Why don’t we devote ourselves entirely to Islam? Why do we not become practicing Muslims with totality? Why do we have to bring into our lives the western cultures that hideously keep us distant from our faith?

It’s a shame that in this day and age two particular groups of people have come into existence; the first group consists of those people who think that acting upon the commands/prohibitions of Islam related to physical worship and the outside body (like performing Salaah, discharging oneself from the duty of zakat if it is compulsory on oneself, staying away from fornication etc.) is necessary but acting upon the commands/prohibitions of Islam related to the heart and inner self (like keeping the heart clean, not harboring evil thoughts regarding others, staying away from jealousy, hatred and ostentation etc.) is not necessary; the second group consists of those who believe vice versa to this first group.

This is precisely the attitude Shariah abhors and detests. Allah, the Almighty mentions in the holy Quran:

{يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا ادْخُلُوا فِي السِّلْمِ كَافَّةً (208)} [البقرة: 208

“O those who believe enter Islam completely” (Al-baqarah: 208)

The above Quranic verse clearly orders us to enter Islam wholly, which means, we must agree to act upon every injunction of Islam, not that we act upon selected injunctions and falter about others.

Remember! Islam is the name to a comprehensive way of life, the name of that precise way of life which has been established through the Quran and Sunnah, thus it does not matter which aspect of life it relates to, whether acts of worship and beliefs or social dealings and business transactions or trade and industry or government and politics or maybe some other field; the important thing is that one enters into Islam with totality and entirety.

Let’s look at an example- when a person intends to buy a car he/she looks at the outside and inside of the car very carefully- he/she even takes it for a test drive with the permission of the seller to make sure that the car has no faults whatsoever; or let us take the example of a house- when a person buys a house, he/she makes sure that there is no defect on the outside- likewise he/she will scrupulously look at the inside of the house. It is sheer disgrace that religion is one thing that we have left either just for the external or just for the internal, whereas in actual fact acting upon religion with totality (both outwardly and inwardly) is tantamount to worshipping our Lord holistically. And In reality, we have been created in this world to worship Allah, the Almighty. He, the Almighty clearly mentions this in the Holy

Quran:

وَمَا خَلَقْتُ الْجِنَّ وَالْإِنْسَ إِلَّا لِيَعْبُدُونِ  [الذاريات/56]

And I did not create the jinn’s nor human beings except that they should worship me (Az-zariyat/56)

So if we are not worshipping Allah with totality, we are not fulfilling our purpose of creation nor are we fulfilling the due rights that we owe to Allah, the Almighty. Therefore, we must ensure we abide by what Allah, the Almighty has ordained relating to both outward aspects  and inward aspects.

I pray that Allah, the Almighty make us holistic believers and that he gives us the ability to act upon Islam with totality. Aameen
