The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) is alive in his grave‏

Question:

Although we know Prophet Muhammad SAW Had passed way! I heard my friend saying the prophet Muhammad SAW Is still alive in the heaven with Allah. Is this true and a act of bidah ?

Answer:

In the name of Allah, Most Compassionate, Most Merciful

The true creed (Aqeedah) of the Muslims with regards to the subject matter in question is that our honorable and beloved Messenger of Allah, Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) is alive in his grave and not in the heavens. This can be clearly construed from the following (and other such) narrations:

1) Aws Ibn Aws) Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “The best of your days is Friday, for in it Adam was created, and in it his soul was taken back, and in it is the blowing of the Horn, and in it is the universal seizure, therefore send salutations upon me in abundance on Friday, as your salutations are presented to me. The Companions inquired: “How is it possible that you receive our salutations when your body will have been decayed? The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “Verily Allah has made it forbidden for the earth to eat the bodies of the Prophets”. (Abu Dawood) [[1]]

2) Abu Darda (Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “Send salutations upon me abundantly on Friday because it is a day that is (particularly) witnessed and the Angels witness it (abundantly). One does not send salutations upon me except his salutations are shown to me until he/she finishes with it.” Abu Darda (Allah be pleased with him) said: “Even after (your) demise?” He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “Even after (my) demise, indeed Allah has forbidden the earth to consume the bodies of Prophets, thus the Prophet of Allah is alive and given sustenance.”(Ibn Majah)[[2]]

3) Anas Ibn Malik (Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “The Prophets are alive in their graves performing Salaat (prayers).”(Musnad Abu Ya’la) [[3]]

Anyone who believes contrary to the above is clearly on the path of deviation and must correct his/her creed and ways.

And Allah, the Almighty knows best
