Trusting What’s Meant for You

“Whatever mercy Allah opens up for people, none can withhold it; and whatever He withholds, none can release it thereafter. And He is the Almighty, All-Wise.” (Surah Fāṭir, 35:2)

This powerful verse reminds us of a deeply grounding truth: every blessing, every relief, and every moment of comfort is in the hands of Allah alone. He is the source of mercy, the controller of outcomes, and the planner of every moment in our lives. When Allah decides to bestow a blessing, nobody can shut you down, lock you out, or block you from what Allah has decreed for you.

In a world where we often feel pressured to chase opportunities, force outcomes, or control every variable, this verse calls us to surrender, not in defeat, but in faith. Because He opens doors that no one can close, and if He chooses to withhold, no one else can give in His place. His mercy reaches whom He wills, and His wisdom guides all decisions, even when they don’t align with our immediate desires.

So what do we do in times of waiting, uncertainty, or hardship?

We turn to Him.

We remember that our desires for ease, healing, or clarity begin with sincere du‘ā and trust in His timing. The heart finds peace not in the illusion of control, but in knowing that the One in control is All-Wise and All-Merciful.

Sometimes, life leads us where we least expect. Opportunities vanish, plans fall through, or we find ourselves in places that feel unfamiliar or even uncomfortable. But always have faith that you’re exactly where you are meant to be. There is no randomness in your story. Trust Allah’s plan. What seems like a delay or detour might be the very path leading you to what is better, even if you cannot yet see it.

In moments of disappointment or confusion, you must convince your heart that whatever Allah has decreed is most appropriate and most beneficial for you. This isn’t passive optimism, it is active īmān (faith). It’s a reminder to strengthen your relationship with Allah, for it is through Him that all things find their rightful place.

Let your heart rest in this truth: what is meant for you will never miss you, and what misses you was never meant for you. And above all, know that Allah’s mercy, once it comes to you, is unstoppable.

Whatever situation you’re in right now—whether it’s ease or hardship, clarity or confusion—pause and remember: He is Al-‘Azīz (The Almighty) and Al-Ḥakīm (The All-Wise). Trust Him. Rely on Him. And walk forward with certainty that you’re in the care of the One who never makes mistakes.
