The intercession of the messenger

intercession of the messanger

Abu Hurayrah relates that the messenger of Allah, may Allah send upon him blessings and peace, was bought some meat, and the arm piece was presented to him so he ate it. And he would like it (the arm piece) so he ate off the bone with his teeth. Then he said: I will be the leader of the people on the day of Qiyamah (standing). Do you know why that is? Allah will gather the early people and the later people on one single plane. A caller will audibly announce to them and the sight will engulf them and the sun will be close to them. Grief and worry shall reach the people and that which they will not be able to bear and handle.

The people will say to each other: “Do you not see what has afflicted you? Do you not see someone who may intercede for you to your lord?” So the people will say to each other: “We should approach Adam.” So they will come to Adam and say: “You are the father of mankind. Allah created you with his hand and blew in to you of his spirit. We should not delve in to how this was or what the reality of the spirit is, for that is from the knowledge that Allah has kept from us. Allah himself says in the Quraan: “And they ask you regarding the spirit. Say: the spirit is from the matters of my lord and of knowledge you have been given only a little.”(1) And he commanded the angels, so they prostrated to you. This incident has been mentioned more than once in the Quraan: “(remember) when your lord said to the angels: truly I am going to create man from clay. So when I have fashioned him and blown in to him of my spirit, fall down prostrating to him. So all the angels prostrated together.” (2)

Intercede for us to your lord. Do you not see the situation we are in? Do you not see what has afflicted us?” So Adam will say to them: “Indeed my lord has become extremely angry today, he has never been angry like it before and will never be angry like it again. And he did indeed prohibit me from the tree and I disobeyed him. “Adam! Dwell you and your wife in paradise and eat from wherever you wish, but do not come close to this tree lest you become of the wrong-doers. Then Shaytaan whispered to them so he may reveal to them what was hidden from them of their private parts. And he said: Your lord did not forbid you this tree save that you should become angels or become of the immortals. And he swore to them: Verily I am of the well-wishers for you. He led them by deception. Then when they tasted the tree their private parts became manifest to them and they began to cover themselves with the leaves of paradise. And their lord called out to them: did I not forbid you from that tree and tell you that Shaytaan is your open enemy?” (3) I am concerned about myself! Myself! Myself! Go to someone else. Go to Nuh.”

So they will come to Nuh and say: “Nuh! You are the first of the messengers to the people of the earth. And Allah has named you a grateful slave. “O offspring of those whom we carried (in the ship) with Nuh! Verily he was a grateful slave.” (4) Intercede for us to your lord. Do you not see the situation we are in? Do you not see what has afflicted us?” So Nuh will say to them: “Indeed my lord has become extremely angry today, he has never been angry like it before and will never be angry like it again. Indeed I had a prayer which I supplicated against my people. “And Nuh said: My lord! Do not leave from the disbelievers a single household on the land.” (5)  I am concerned about myself! Myself! Myself! Go to someone else. Go to Ibraheem.”

So they will come to Ibraheem and say: “Ibraheem! You are the prophet of Allah and his friend from the people of the land. Intercede for us to your lord. Do you not see the situation we are in? So he will say: “Indeed my lord has become extremely angry today, he has never been angry like it before and will never be angry like it again. And Indeed I said three lies. One when he was invited to celebrate with his people and he wished to stay behind, “so he said: I am ill”. (6) Another when he smashed their idle gods and was asked about it. “He said: Rather this big one of theirs did it so ask them if they can speak.” (7) “And once regarding Sarah (his wife). He had come to the land of a tyrant and with him was Sarah. And she was the most beautiful of people. So he said to her: This tyrant, indeed if he comes to know that you are my wife, he will overpower me for you. So if he asks you then tell him that you are my Sister, for you are my sister in Islaam, and I do not know of any muslim on the Earth except me and you.” (8) I am concerned about myself! Myself! Myself! Go to someone else. Go to Moosa.”

So they will come to Moosa and say: “Moosa! You are the messenger of Allah. Allah has given you preference over the people with his scriptures and his speech. Intercede for us to your lord. Do you not see the situation we are in?” So he will say: “Indeed my lord has become extremely angry today, he has never been angry like it before and will never be angry like it again. And I surely killed a soul which I had not been commanded of its killing. “And he entered the city at a time of unawareness of its people and he found therein two people fighting, one from his party and the other from his enemy’s party. So the man from his party sought his help over the man from his enemy’s party, so Musa punched him thus confirming an end to his life. He said: This is from the doings of Shaytaan. Verily he is a misleading and open enemy.” (9) I am concerned about myself! Myself! Myself! Go to someone else. Go to Eesa.”

So they will come to Eesa and say: “Eesa! You are the messenger of Allah and his word, which he put forward to Maryam, and of his soul. We should not delve in to how this was or what the reality of the soul is, for that is from the knowledge that Allah has kept from us. Allah himself says in the Quraan: “And they ask you regarding the soul. Say: the soul is from the matters of my lord and of knowledge you have been given only a little.” (1) And you spoke to the people from the cradle. “So she came carrying him to his people. They said: Maryam! You have surely bought something unheard of. O sister of Haroon! Your father was not a man of vice nor was your mother unchaste. So she pointed to him. They said: How can we talk to one who is a child in the cradle? He (Eesa) said: Verily I am a slave of Allah. He has given me the scripture and made me a prophet. And he has made me blessed wherever I may be and has enjoined on me Salaah (prayer) and Zakaah (charity) as long as I live. And dutiful to my mother, and has not made me arrogant and. And peace be upon me the day I was born, and the day I die, and the day I shall be raised alive.” (10) Intercede for us to your lord. Do you not see the situation we are in?” So Eesa will say: “Indeed my lord has become extremely angry today, he has never been angry like it before and will never be angry like it again. – And he did not mention a sin – I am concerned about myself! Myself! Myself! Go to someone else. Go to Muhammed, may Allah send upon him blessings and peace.”

So they will come to Muhammed, may Allah send upon him blessings and peace, and say: “Muhammed! You are the messenger of Allah and the seal of the prophets. And of your sins, those which have passed and those which are yet to come, you have been forgiven. Intercede for us to your lord. Do you not see the situation we are in?” So I will go until I reach under the throne. Then I will fall prostrating to my lord. Then Allah will reveal to me from his praises and good word that which he has not revealed to anyone before me. Then it will be said: “Muhammed! Raise your head. Ask and you will be granted. Intercede and your intercession will be accepted.” So I shall raise my head and I will say: “My Lord! I am concerned about my Ummah (my people)! My Lord! I am concerned about my Ummah! My Lord! I am concerned about my Ummah!”

So he will say: “Muhammed!  From your Ummah enter in to (Jannah), from the right door of the doors of Jannah, those who have no reckoning upon them. And they are the associates of the people in the doors except in that. Then he said: By the one in whose hand lies my soul, between the two door panels from the door panels of Jannah is the equivalent distance between (the city of) Makkah and(the city of) Hajar, and between (the city of) Makkah and (the city of) Busrah.
