QUESTION:
I am traveling to hajj with my mum who is old, and cannot move much. My farther has suggested that we will not stay in Muzdalifah till sunrise rather we will stay only till the islamic midnight. Is this correct or should we wait till sunrise?
ANSWER:
In the name of Allah, Most Compassionate, Most Merciful,
Wuqūf of muzdalifah is wājib (compulsory).
The time of wuqūf begins after ṣubḥ ṣādiq (fajr beginning time) on the 10th of Dhul Ḥijjah.
The wujūb would be fulfilled by merely remaining at muzdalifah after ṣubḥ ṣādiq for a little while or even by just passing through muzdalifah after ṣubḥ ṣādiq.
However, it is sunnah to remain at muzdalifah until sunrise.
And Allah, the Almighty, knows best,
