Allah says:

 وَإِذَا قُلْتُمْ فَاعْدِلُوا وَلَوْ كَانَ ذَا قُرْبَىٰ 

“Whenever you speak, maintain justice—even regarding a close relative.”

This brief yet powerful command reminds us that integrity in speech is a core part of faith. Our words carry weight, and Allah calls us to use them with fairness, honesty, and balance—regardless of who is involved.

It is easy to be just when dealing with strangers. The real test appears when the truth affects someone close to us: a family member, a friend, someone we feel protective over. In those moments, personal loyalty can blur moral clarity. Yet the Qur’an insists that truth and justice must rise above emotion, habit, and social pressure.

To speak justly is to honour Allah before honouring people. It is to let principles guide the tongue, not personal ties. It is to recognise that fairness is an act of worship, and that every word is recorded.

May Allah grant us the strength to uphold truth in all circumstances.

اَللّٰهُمَّ أَسْأَلُكَ كَلِمَةَ الْحَقِّ فِي الرِّضَا وَالْغَضَبِ

O Allah, I ask You for a word of truth in times of calm and in times of anger
