QUESTION:
Many people, Muslims included have began registering/naming a star as a gift to a loved one.
This can range from gifting a family member for a deceased, a birthday, graduation or an anniversary for their spouse.
They receive certification that a certain star has officially now been named after the chosen person.
Allah knows best whether this is a gimmick or an official document, either way is this permissible to purchase as a form of a gift?

A Muslim does things with intent and purpose that is sanctioned by Shariah.
The method of gifting mentioned in the question has no basis and seems pointless. As such, it should be avoided.
