Do I pray qasr for the journey from here before I reach makkah?

QUESTION:

I will be travelling to makkah soon and will not be a musafir once I reach there.
Do I pray qasr for the journey from here before I reach makkah?

ANSWER:

In the name of Allah, Most Compassionate, Most Merciful,

During your journey from UK to Makkah, you will be considered a Musāfir (Sharʿī traveller).

When a Musāfir prays Zuhr Ṣalāh, ʿAṣr Ṣalāh or ʿĪshā Ṣalāh whether individually or behind a Musāfir Imām, he will have to do Qaşr; pray two Rak’āt Fardh.

When a Musāfir prays Ṣalāh in congregation behind a non-Musāfir Imām, he will complete the Ṣalāh by praying four Rak’āt Fardh.

The Sunan and Nawāfil Rak’āt will remain the same as per usual.

And Allah, the Almighty, knows best,
