Uthman Ibn Affan Allah be pleased with him narrates that the messenger of Allah, Allah send peace and blessings upon him said, whichever slave (of Allah) says in the morning of everyday and the evening of every night the following prayer three times nothing can harm him (and in another narration no sudden harm will afflict him)

(I seek protection) in the name of Allah, the name with which nothing in the heavens and earth can be harmed and He is the All-hearing the All-knowing.

Aban (the narrator who narrates from Uthman) later on in life was afflicted with a type of paralysis, so his student began to look at him (with amaze). Aban said to him ‘What are you looking at? Listen up! The narration is as I narrated to you, however I forgot to say the Dua on the day I was afflicted and so Allah carried out his pre destiny on me.

حدثنا محمد بن بشار حدثنا أبو داود حدثنا عبد الرحمن بن أبي الزناد عن أبيه عن أبان بن عثمان قال : سمعت عثمان بن عفان رضي الله عنه يقول قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه و سلم ما من عبد يقول في صباح كل يوم ومساء كل ليلة

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الَّذِى لاَ يَضُرُّ مَعَ اسْمِهِ شَىْءٌ فِى الأَرْضِ وَلاَ فِى السَّمَاءِ وَهُوَ السَّمِيعُ الْعَلِيمُ

ثلاث مرات لم يضر بشيء فكان أبان قد أصابه طرف فالج فجعل الرجل ينظر إليه فقال له أبان ما تنظر ؟ أما إن الحديث كما حدثتك ولكني لم أقله يومئذ ليمضي الله علي قدره
